The National Telecommunications Commission (CONATEL) has announced through Official Gazette No. 43.208 that all new technological equipment imported into Venezuela must be “certified and homologated” by the authority before being placed on the market.
The administrative provision establishes that telecommunication devices must comply with CONATEL’s categorization process for certification and homologation, ensuring adherence to technical, safety, and cybersecurity requirements applicable in the country.
According to the resolution, the equipment subject to homologation includes:
📡 Modems, fixed and mobile phones, transceivers
📺 Broadcasting and television transmission devices
🛰️ Earth station equipment, amplifiers, transmitters
🌐 Data network devices, multiplexers, servers (Hosts)
🔒 Network security and free-use equipment
The verification and approval process will be led by CONATEL, which will review the technical, safety, and cybersecurity standards for each product. Once approved, the certification document will authorize the import, distribution, commercialization, and use of the equipment within Venezuela.
