  1. Identify the type of equipment
Verify whether the product is subject to certification by the Subsecretaría de Telecomunicaciones (SUBTEL) — usually required for wireless devices such as Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, mobile phones, routers, and similar equipment.
  2. Appoint a local representative
A local representative in Chile is required to manage the certification process and act as the responsible party for commercialization.
  3. Submit technical documentation
Include test reports, user manuals, product photos, technical specifications, and foreign conformity certificates (e.g., FCC, CE).
  4. Perform conformity testing (if applicable)
SUBTEL accepts reports from internationally recognized laboratories but may request local testing depending on the frequency band used.
  5. Apply for certification through SUBTEL
Applications are submitted electronically through SUBTEL’s online platform. Once approved, the product receives a homologation number.
  6. Mandatory labeling
Certified products must display the SUBTEL approval mark, including the homologation number and the holder’s name.

📘 Validity: Certification does not expire unless the product undergoes technical modifications.
🔹 Regulatory authority: SUBTEL (Subsecretaría de Telecomunicaciones – Chile)
🔹 Legal basis: Resolución Exenta N° 1985/2017 and subsequent updates
