On February 27, 2026, the Communications Regulatory Authority (CRA) published the updated Qatar National Frequency Allocation Plan (QNFAP), incorporating outcomes from the World Radiocommunication Conference 2023 and aligning the country’s spectrum policy with international ICT standards.

Key Updates

  • 5G / IMT: The 6425–7125 MHz band has been identified for terrestrial IMT, while mmWave ranges (24.25–27.5 GHz and 66–71 GHz) remain allocated for advanced 5G services.
  • Wi-Fi / WAS-RLAN: The lower 6 GHz band (5925–6425 MHz) is designated for Wi-Fi and wireless access systems, while the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands remain unchanged.
  • SRD & RFID: Existing allocations, including 865–868 MHz, continue to follow European ETSI-aligned standards.

The updated plan also introduces stricter power flux-density limits to avoid interference between satellite and mobile services and reinforces rules for secondary spectrum users.

Impact

The new framework strengthens international spectrum harmonization and supports next-generation connectivity technologies. Manufacturers should review the updated technical parameters to ensure compliance and smooth type approval for the Qatari market.
