The National Communications Authority (NCA) of Ghana has opened a public consultation on the use of the L6GHz band (5925–6425 MHz) for WAS/RLAN applications, including Wi-Fi 6E, under the Electronic Communications Act, 2008. The proposal aims to enhance indoor connectivity and support advanced services such as AR, VR, and high-capacity broadband.

The NCA is considering a license-exempt framework, with technical and operational conditions to ensure coexistence with existing fixed and satellite services, in line with African Telecommunications Union recommendations. Only Low Power Indoor (LPI) and Very Low Power (VLP) devices would be permitted.

Personal, single-premise use would not require licensing, while commercial deployments would need formal authorization and applicable fees. The consultation runs until 25 February 2026, with final rules expected later in 2026.
