On May 13, 2025, Chile’s telecom regulator SUBTEL published Resolution No. 737, updating the technical standard for reduced-range devices (SRDs).
The key change is a shift from mandatory certification to a self-declaration model for most SRDs. While medical-use devices must still be certified by SUBTEL, all other SRDs (e.g., Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, RFID) will now require a QR code on the packaging, linking to a Spanish-language website with compliance information, technical specs, and a downloadable test report.
The new rules aim to reduce regulatory burdens while maintaining transparency and enforceability. They become mandatory in February 2026.
