ANATEL approved new regulations updating the import procedure for telecommunications equipment, granting the agency direct access to SISCOMEX data. Starting in May 2026, certification (homologation) information will be required in the Single Import Declaration (DUIMP), reinforcing oversight of non-certified products entering Brazil.
The new framework allows ANATEL to act earlier in the customs process, including the retention and confiscation of non-compliant equipment during clearance. The initiative strengthens enforcement, improves risk-based inspections, and enhances security, technical compliance, and consumer protection.
The regulation also replaces Act No. 4,521/2021 and includes coordination with SECEX to guide importers and manufacturers on the new requirements.
