ENACOM has finalized a new equipment certification and homologation regulation, set to be published soon.
Speaking at Fiber Connect Latam 2025, Juan Martín Ozores, regulatory intervener, explained that the initiative aims to streamline the go-to-market process for CPEs, smartphones, and other telecom equipment.
“We are working across multiple technical groups — in coordination with other regulators such as those in Brazil, Colombia, Chile, and the U.S. FCC — as well as suppliers and major brands facing the challenge of launching their products simultaneously across markets. That was not possible before in Argentina,” said Ozores.
The new framework will replace 15 existing ENACOM regulations, some of which date back decades.
According to Ozores, homologation could take 4–5 months if managed solely by ENACOM, but the agency is encouraging the participation of private laboratories and certification bodies to accelerate product approvals and enable faster market access.
He also highlighted initiatives such as the National Plan for Critical Communications Infrastructure and the neutral mayoral network, emphasizing a technology-agnostic approach to expand connectivity and support underserved markets.
